Raspberry with Floral Stamping | Bluesky Diva Dash & MoYou Nails 487

I have lots of posts to publish, but I am rather behind due to having had flu and then, after that, a poorly husband who’s had six weeks with pneumonia. That is all, thankfully, now behind us and I can hopefully catch up and post everything I’ve been sitting on for the past few weeks.

This is a manicure I actually wore between Christmas and New Year. It’s a gel base, with some floral stamping.

The base is Bluesky Diva Dash, a raspberry colour that seems to perfectly suit my colouring. It’s a shade I return to again and again for that reason.

The stamping uses a MoYou Nails plate, number 487. The plate has some lovely, detailed floral images on it. A lot of my stamping plates are no good any more, as the images just aren’t large enough for my long nails – but the images on MoYou Nails plates are just the right size.

I also used the MoYou Cuticle Peel Off Latex. I have always just cleaned up my nails and haven’t bothered with latex barriers like this. But it was great to use – so easy – and nice and clean! I did experience a bit of tingling though, so I may be allergic to latex.

Birds in a Tree | Twinsie Tuesday

Birds is the theme for the Twinsie Tuesday prompt today. I’ve put some birds in a tree, after I saw this manicure by Wacky Lacki where she used the same Fake Tattoos of birds that I was planning to use.

For the background, there was nothing better to start off with than Barry M Sky Blue for the sky. Then I stamped on some clouds using an image from my MoYou Nails Pro Board VII plate.

I used the tree from Born Pretty Store BP-L015 on my middle fingernail and then used parts of the same image on the nails next to it to give the impression of branches spreading outwards.

For the tree stamping, I used Barry M Cocoa and as it’s not a proper stamping polish, you could see the clouds through it. So I went over it a bit with a cut down detailing brush and some more Barry M Cocoa. I just painted roughly, so that it looked a bit like bark.

Finally, I added in my birds, using Fake Tattoos, which are effectively water decals. And I added one coming in to land on my little finger nail.

My scene looks very wintry and bare, and I toyed with adding in some green leaves, but wasn’t sure my freehand was up to it. I didn’t want to ruin what I already had, so I called it quits and stuck with it as it was.

London Skyline | Twinsie Tuesday

Yesterday’s Twinsie Tuesday prompt was “inspired by a city”. I’m from London, so I added to my gradient from yesterday and created some London skyline nails.

My gradient yesterday looked a bit like a sunset, so I thought I’d create a silhouette skyline against it. I used one of the MoYou Nails square stamping plates that I bought recently: MoYou Nails 404. It has skylines of London, New York, Las Vegas and Paris on it, as well as some florals. That’s a bit of a random combination, but I’m happy with both!

It’s not a very tall skyline. In hindsight, I think I shouldn’t have placed it so low down on my nails. It seems a bit lost. It would have looked better if I had placed it further up my nails and then added some more black under it at the tips.

Purple and Lilac Music Stamping (52 Week Challenge)

The two prompts for week 27 (over half way – woohoo!) in the 52 Week Pick n Mix Challenge are music and not worn enough. I’ve gone with music and done some purple and lilac music stamping.

The base colour is Barry M Orchid. It’s one of the Silks collection and is supposed to be worn matte. I much prefer it with top coat though as the magenta shimmer shines through, giving it more depth and interest.

The stamping is done using MoYou Nails Lilac special stamping polish and the treble clef image from Born Pretty Store plate BP-47.

I got lucky with my placement and got the images centred first time, which was a huge relief. Stopping at just two stamped accents was therefore the best choice I could have made!

Blue and green metallic stamping (52 Week Challenge)

I’m sticking to the single prompt again for this week’s 52 Week Pick n Mix Challenge. The two choices are Ikat and metallic. I’ve not ever done an Ikat pattern, so probably should have done, but I was short of time so went with metallic.

Although the photos don’t really show it, both these polishes are metallic. The base is Barry M Magnetic Blue. I haven’t used a magnet on it, as I think it looks great on its own.

The stamping is using Aglaia, from the 2True Metallica collection, all of which are brilliant for stamping.

I picked this snazzy pattern on the MoYou Nails Pro VII board. The photos don’t seem to show the metallic as vibrantly as it looks in real life.

My husband loved this manicure, but it didn’t last very long. Probably less than half a day in the end as I didn’t think it went with what I was wearing this evening and so ended up changing it.
