Day 18 of the Crumpet’s Nail Tarts 33 Day Challenge calls for a manicure featuring two patterns.

I was going to do dots and stripes, but it kind of evolved into dotted flowers and stripes instead when I saw this post and wanted to copy the flowers.

I started off with a base of OPI My Vampire Is Buff on all nails and then dotted on the flower petals using SpaRitual From The Heart, which is a rich burgundy, and Ciaté Pocket Money, which is a medium brown, sort of peachy-leaning colour, which is not at all unlike the colour of plasticine. I dotted the flower centres using Pocket Money, My Vampire is Buff and W7 Black.

I didn’t add the stalks of the flowers as per the post that originally inspired them. Instead I decided to use dots to join them together to make it look more abstract.

For the other fingers I used tape to block off the lines and painted in between.

I really love this look – especially the flowers – and will probably try it out with some other colour combinations.

The next prompt calls for me to copy someone’s tutorial. I have something in mind that if I go with it means more flowers next time too!
