NYC Mint Macaroon with gold glequins

I wanted to jazz up yesterday’s manicure a bit. Green really isn’t my favourite colour, and although I liked my nails, I didn’t like them enough to leave them plain.

So I added some gold glequins (I still think they should be called hexaquins!). I’ve only added them to my ring fingers, as accent nails, but they would easily have worked on all nails.

I used a coat of NYC Grand Central Station – a clear polish – to add the glequins to. I simply picked them up with a cocktail stick dipped in polish and placed them onto the nail. It’s not difficult or time consuming, although a couple of them aren’t placed as symmetrically as I would like (I am anal about these things) and the clear polish got a bit too tacky to be able to move them about too much. It’s not good enough as a top coat – because it dries too slowly. But for this, it dries too quickly!

For this manicure I’ve used:
  • Base: three coats of NYC Mint Macaroon
  • Intermediate top coat: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Anti-Chip
  • Glequins: gold glequins added using NYC Grand Central Station
  • Final top coat: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Anti-Chip

Really nice job. And your glequins are STRAIGHT. So jealous. Mine always get a little wobbly, as if I’d had a little too much bubbly. 🙂

I’m a bit anal about getting them straight, and my clear coat was drying so quickly, so there are some that are more wonky than I would like!

Not sure if I’ve said this before but I love the elegance of a simple manicure.

I love nail art but nothing beats simplicity.

Beautiful mani with the perfect accent.

Thank you Tracy 🙂
