FingerFood’s Theme Weeks: Abstract: Using Revlon Polishes

I didn’t know where to start for the abstract theme for this week’s FingerFood’s Theme Weeks challenge.

So I did what I always do when faced with something I’m not sure about … I Googled!

I looked up abstract art and found a nice abstract painting to use as my inspiration. I was going to try to copy it using the distressed technique (see Chalkboard Nails’ distressed tutorial). I started off with a coat of white and then barely scraped the polish on.

I chose a random assortment of Revlon creme polishes: Revlon Red (red), Royal (royal blue), Plum Night (purple), Sweet Tart (pink), Bewitching (plum), Dreamer (pale blue) and Electric (yellow). I got it wrong with the yellow though; it’s not a creme but a shimmer polish.

But after just one nail, I didn’t like the look.  It didn’t look anything like my inspiration picture and I just hated it.

So then I loaded the brushes more and painted on randomly. I think it’s a bit like Elmer the elephant now. I’m still not entirely sure I like it – but it’s abstract, that’s for sure!

Soo pretty! I love the effect and it looks like freestyle colour blocking XD (blotting?) Anyway, its a really neat outcome. Great job, and I’m loving all the colours! ♥

I love the ordered chaos of these! I knew Abstract week was going to be my favourite 😀

I like it really. Honestly it’s different from distressed one but you have evolved your own technique which gave your manicure a unique look 🙂 I followed you on your social sites, hope you will check back 🙂
