Green dots (52 Week Challenge)
In the 52 Week Pick n Mix Challenge this week the themes are dots and 3 shades of purple. I told my son I was going to do a dotticure, and he picked me out some blues. But I – rather uncharacteristically – chose to go with green. I’m not a lover of green, but I’m beginning to like it when it’s used in nail art (rather than as a plain manicure).
This is done mainly with Barry M polishes: a base of Coconut, then dots in Olive, Key Lime, Spring Green and Watermelon. There are also a couple of dots of Barry M Lime Green in there too, but it was a bit too sheer, so I abandoned it fairly rapidly. The only non-Barry M polish is Essie Navigate Her.
I’m using Sally Hansen Insta-Dri as my go-to top coat at the moment. I’ve realised that a top coat will fall out of favour with me once it starts to get towards the end of the bottle and it begins to get a little thick. Regardless of the brand, this seems to happen. So currently I’ve been using Sally Hansen Insta-Dri after a long period of religiously using HK Girl. However, Sally Hansen Insta-Dri isn’t as good at not smearing artwork, so I used my (rather thick) bottle of HK Girl this time around.
- Base colour: two coats of Barry M Coconut
- Dots: Barry M Olive, Barry M Key Lime, Barry M Spring Green, Barry M Watermelon, Barry M Lime Green, Essie Navigate Her
- Top coat: Glisten & Glow HK Girl
