Barry M Full Throttle: U is for: Unusual

I’m a week behind in posting my A2Z series nails this time. But we went away rather spontaneously and spent a couple of nights staying in Wiltshire, and visiting Bath and Avebury. We had a lovely short break, which very much recharged my completely spent batteries.

My son has been off school for the Easter holidays for the past two weeks, and my husband has been off as well. But unfortunately, it coincided with an extremely busy time for me with one of my clients. So for two weeks, I had to work all day, while they both enjoyed themselves.

So, come last Thursday evening, 30 minutes after me saying I’d quite like to go away, my husband had booked a hotel and packed for all three of us. I returned home from a client meeting and was out the door again within an hour.

I hadn’t quite decided what to do for unusual at that point. During our trip, having already visited the Roman Baths, we wandered around the shops in Bath town centre and I decided to finally buy a couple of the new Barry M Speedy Quick Dry polishes.

That evening, Full Throttle was on my nails. It’s a lovely pale, orangey-peach colour.

But apart from the lovely colour, I hate it. Which is why I chose it for unusual. It is very unusual for me not to like a Barry M nail polish.

But this one – and I hope the others aren’t the same – is really unpleasant to use. It’s really difficult to apply. Most reviews I’ve read say it’s thin. Well, yes, it is thin in that it goes on streaky, but it actually handles like a thick polish and gets dragged around your nail unless you work at lightning speed.

And I didn’t think it lived up to its Speedy Quick Dry name either. It certainly didn’t dry any more quickly than any of the Gelly range. It went on streaky and patchy and just didn’t level out, so needed three coats. Even then, I’m not entirely satisfied with the coverage on a couple of the nails.

I do like the colour, but apart from that, this polish is an all round disappointment. How unusual.

I love this color on your nails, and the quality of the swatches is also perfect!

Oh no! This was the one I wanted from the collection as I love the colour! How disappointing!

It might just be me, Lou. Plenty of other people seem to like this range.
