Zoya Storm, Dream and Payton: 3 Dark Colours (52 Week Challenge)
The themes for this week’s 52 Week Pick n Mix Challenge are 3 dark colours or the 80s.
My formative years were the 1980s. As the decade dawned, I became a teenager, and by the time they ended, I had completed university and was a couple of years into my first job.
So you’d think I’d choose the 80s for my prompt. But I couldn’t find any inspiration. Everything that is used to depict the 80s these days – to me – seems wrong. It wasn’t all about neon colours and leg warmers. Yes, there was a phase of that, but to me it was also about stark lines (red, black and white wallpaper and bedding anyone?), and about studded belts (when punk went mainstream), and checked shirts (Big Country stylee) and new Romantic scarves and suede pixie boots.
Now, none of that seemed to translate to nails for me. So I went with 3 dark colours. I chose three Zoyas – my favourite scattered holos – and splodged them onto my nail randomly. It’s not the best manicure ever. It could have done with another top coat to smooth it out a bit more for a start.
- Plain nails: two coats of Zoya Payton
- Accent nails: splodges of Zoya Dream, Zoya Storm and Zoya Payton
- Top coat: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri
