Black and White Checked Nails | Hobbies | 40 Great Nail Art Ideas
So, as hinted at earlier in the week, today is the start of a new challenge for the Crumpet’s Nail Tarts. This one is 40 Great Nail Art Ideas. The very first prompt is all about hobbies, and I have some black and white checked nails, to represent chess.
So, I’ll explain the challenge. It runs for a year and on alternate weeks we will have different types of prompt. One week is a theme and the following week is a pattern plus one or more colours. But, here’s the twist, although everyone will be doing the same colour, we’ll all be using different patterns. Hence why there will be 40 different nail art ideas.
So, this week we start with a theme and it’s hobbies. My main hobby is painting my nails. I tried – and failed – twice to create a nail polish themed manicure. And only last week I posted my tree nails – to represent my other big interest of genealogy. So, I was all out of inspiration. Finally, I chose chess. It’s not a hobby of mine, but my son loves chess. I’ve used the chessboard idea and created some black and white checked nails.
I stamped using the India plate from the Bundle Monster Around The World collection. It’s not as good as the stamping I did for my Madness nails, but I manually touched those up. I didn’t have time with these tonight.
So it’s been a bit of a rushed start to the challenge. I literally finished and photographed this some twenty minutes ago. Lots of the other bloggers have already prepared several of the manicures! I need to be a bit more organised.
- Colour: two coats of W7 Black
- Stamping polish: Konad White
- Stamping plate: Bundle Monster Around The World BM-XL154
- Top coat: Glisten & Glow HK Girl

The checked nails looks great! Black and white is such a classic combination too.
Very nice indeed! The checked pattern reminds me the F1 races! My oncle tried once to teach me how to play chess, but I get bored very easily, and chess are a game that require a LOTS of patience. =)
Yes, chess does require patience. I played it as a child, and I have played a bit with my son – but he’s better than me!
It’s lovely
Great mani! So neatly done, I love black and white combo.
