Morgan Taylor The Great Ice-Scape Collection
I have the whole Morgan Taylor The Great Ice-Scape collection to show you today.
It comprises six polishes for Winter 2016. There are two blues, a nude, a mauve, a pink and a copper shimmer. They are such gorgeous colours. As ever, I have been surprised by a couple of Morgan Taylor polishes. The ones I thought I might not like, I have absolutely adored.
The collection is themed around ice-skating. Here are the shades:
- Figure 8s & Heartbreaks – a dusky mauve creme
- Flirt In a Skating Skirt – a steel blue creme
- Hey, Twirl-Friend – a nude creme
- Ice Queen Anyone? – a copper shimmer
- Lace ‘Em Up – a midnight blue creme
- N-ice Girls Rule – a pale pink shimmer
Each of my swatches is two coats plus top coat. Every single one of these painted on perfectly and lasted really well. I am truly so impressed with Morgan Taylor polishes.
Figure 8s & Heartbreaks
This colour is absolutely stunning. It’s a dusky mauve – precisely the kind of tone that I like. It’s so gorgeous on, and I had so many people ask me what it was called when I wore it. This one is definitely my favourite of the collection.
Flirt In a Skating Skirt
This is another dusky colour, and again one that I think is perfect for me. It’s a steel blue. It is darker than in the bottle – lots of shades are as the the thickness of the glass bottle makes them appear lighter.
Hey, Twirl-Friend
This is a nude polish. It has a hint of beige or mushroom about it. It’s a great colour for work, and complements the steel blue especially well. I can see me using these two together for nail art. I used two thicker coats for this swatch. If you paint your polish on thinly, you may need to use three.
Ice Queen Anyone?
This copper shimmer is the one polish in the collection that I thought I wouldn’t like. And I was wrong. It has a lovely sparkle to it under lights (or perhaps out in the sun – not that I can try that in the UK in the mid-winter though!) The photos seem to really show up the line in my nail where the free edge starts. I usually get this when my hands/nails are quite dry, so perhaps I didn’t moisturise well when I took these. I know metallic and shimmery polishes like this can often show up the flaws in your nails, but I don’t recall that showing up while I was wearing the polish.
Lace ‘Em Up
Lace ‘Em Up is a deep navy, a midnight blue. It’s another gorgeous polish, and one that I’ve already re-worn since swatching it.
N-ice Girls Rule
This is another from the collection that I looked at at first and thought, no, not for me. I thought it was too girly, too pretty, too fragile for me. But I love this pale pink shimmer. It’s an absolute winner.
Here’s a nice little video of some behind the scenes action. I guess it’s from an advert for the collection.
