Blue Tartan: 33DC Day 28: Lines

The prompt in today’s Crumpet’s Nail Tarts 33 Day Challenge is lines.

I have wanted to do tartan nails for ages, ever since seeing a tutorial on Tumblr. It wasn’t easy. I usually do my stripes and straight-lined patterns using tape. But for some reason, I chose to freehand these with nail art brushes and that made it a whole lot harder. It also meant my lines are all a bit wobbly!

I do love how they look, even though I didn’t quite finish them off. They should really have another line (I was going to do red or navy) in the centre of the white stripes. But I was pleased with how far I had already got, and was convinced I might ruin them, so chickened out of adding anything else.

Day 28: Lines – tartan nails using Barry M Blackberry, Barry M Matt White and NYC Raindrop (Blue Sky)

There are only five more of these challenges left. I’ve enjoyed doing them as it’s made me do more than simply paint my nails with a single colour. There are two or three Christmas challenges coming up afterwards, which I may take part in – I’m not sure as yet.

For this manicure I’ve used:
  • Plain nails: two coats of Barry M Blackberry
  • Tartan nails: two coats of Barry M Matt White, plus NYC Raindrop (Blue Sky), Barry M Blackberry and Barry M Matt White – all added using nail art brushes
  • Top coat: Glisten & Glow HK Girl

Have a look at what everyone else doing the challenge has come up with:

I like the wobbly look, because it really looks like fabric now 🙂
