Tie Dye (52 Week Challenge)
The two prompts for this 52 Week Pick n Mix Challenge were tie dye and fugly. I didn’t have many ideas about what to do, and I’ve just returned from holiday, meaning I am really busy catching up with things. So I took the easy option and created a tie dye accent nail which I added to an existing red manicure. I don’t much like it though, so it may as well count as fugly too!
I was already wearing Nella Milano Scarlet Heat, so I used a range of other Nella Milano polishes to create a typical tie dye look. It seems that a rainbow spiral is the typical tie dye pattern that people put on their nails. I’m not sure why. From my youth in the 1970s, the pattern was always concentric circles and tie dyeing was only really done in one colour.
I’ve used Scarlet Heat (red), Chilli Blaze (orange), Lemon Sherbet (yellow), Evergreen (green) and True Blue (blue). I’ve not done this technique before, but it was incredibly simple. On the base of the red, I just used a tiny brush to squiggle in the colours in a spiral pattern. Easy peasy and very quick. I didn’t have to worry about it looking perfect, because tie dye isn’t.
There are only seven more weeks of this challenge to go. The year has sped by.
- Red nails: two coats of Nella Milano Scarlet Heat
- Accent nail: Nella Milano Scarlet Heat, Nella Milano Chilli Blaze, Nella Milano Lemon Sherbet, Nella Milano Evergreen and Nella Milano True Blue

You make me want to try out the tie-dye look since I’ve never done it! I have zero energy though to do so. LOL!
