Pink and Orange Water Marble (52 Week Challenge)

I’ve chosen just the pink and orange prompt for this week’s 52 Week Pick n Mix Challenge. I wasn’t up to adding in the stained glass or mosaic element as well.

I had the idea of doing a plain water marble that I’ve seen a lot of recently. It’s where you don’t drag anything through the rings of polish, but instead leave them so that they create curved stripes. I wanted to use so many drops of polish that the very centre circle was really small, and then I wanted to try to capture that part on the centre of my nail. But I just couldn’t get it to work. Not dragging through the polish seemed to make it far too thick, and it just pooled on my nails in a mushy mess.

So I went back to what I always do and created my favourite stripey pattern. The colour combination reminds me so much of fruit salad sweets.

I used two Revlon Colorstay polishes, which I picked in up Poundworld. They worked brilliantly for marbling. The pink is Passionate Pink  and the orange is Sorbet.

I used Sorbet in the plain orange nails. It is very sheer and even four coats didn’t give a very solid-looking colour. And it certainly didn’t seem to match the orange in the marbled nails. So instead I painted two coats over white, which gave it more vibrancy.

Unfortunately, as always seems to be the case when I use white undies, my clean up takes away more of the top coat, leaving a thin line of white around the cuticle edge. I always hate it in the photos, but it’s not too noticeable in real life.
