Red and Black Tartan
I created these red and black tartan nails using Born Pretty Store stamping plate BP-L006.
I am quite obsessed with tartan at the moment. With a Scottish surname like Kerr – which is a clan name with its own tartan – you’d think I would always have been obsessed with tartan. But I am English, and my husband is too. His Kerr line is Scottish originally, I’m pretty sure of that, but I’ve only been able to trace it back to Northern Ireland so far. Plenty of Scots emigrated to Northern Ireland, but as yet, I can’t trace my husband’s ancestors much beyond the mid 1800s.
OK, that’s your history and genealogy lesson over. Onto the nails. I stamped with Konad Black over a base of Barry M Blood Orange.
My lines are a little wiggly on some nails, but I do love these. I want to do some more adventurous tartan nails next. I bought the recently released MoYou Nails square plates, and one of them has a couple of more complicated tartan patterns. Plus, there is a new hēhē “plaid and florals” collection that I want.
You can buy Born Pretty Store BP-L006 for $3.59 / £2.34. My 10% discount code – ZSL91 – won’t work for this item, as it is reduced. But if you’re buying anything else that isn’t already discounted, then it will.
- Colour: two coats of Barry M Blood Orange

This looks great! I totally did something like this in one of my manicures awhile ago too. I used red and black too.
Oh yes, Lisa. (I just went and searched your blog!) How funny.
Red, plaid AND nails!! The perfect combo!!
Pretty. I love the black and red combo.
No wigglinness detected. Plenty of perfection though.
