My most used polish is a bottle of Revlon All Fired Up. I am fairly certain that the polish was unique to Boots, and it was one of only about twelve polishes that I owned before I became rather obsessed with this little hobby of mine and before I started to keep my nails painted.

I’ve had it a while and red is such a classic colour that it’s easy to wear with anything. And that’s why it’s my most used polish.

I went back and forth with this challenge about what to do to add a nail art element to my manicure. I tried stamping, but I seem to have lost my stamping mojo, and it just wasn’t working for me. Then I tried out various ideas on a nail wheel, which only served to prove how useless I am with a striping brush. Ultimately therefore, I went with a technique I knew I could master, but in a style I’ve not done before.

So these are my fishtail nails. They have a base of Revlon All Fired Up, and then I added fishtail shaped tips using Barry M Foil Effects Silver and W7 Black. I added the silver using some tip guides, just so I could be sure I got crisp lines, but I freehanded the black as I couldn’t be sure I would get the guides straight as I couldn’t see under them to check if they were lined up properly.

And just for posterity, here’s my nails painted in just Revlon All Fired Up.
