Born Pretty Store BP-10 stamped over Zoya Claire

I received a stamper from Born Pretty Store to review and they very kindly threw in a plate too.

I decided to test the plate and stamper over Zoya Claire. I had to have a polish called Claire, didn’t I? It’s not my favourite shade ever, but it’s still a nice rich burgundy, bordering on the chocolate.

The plate was – at the time – my first Born Pretty Store plate. I liked it so much that I’ve since bought 26 more of them, and then I also bought the 20 that have just been issued this month (numbers 36 to 55). I’m now just missing numbers 2 to 9 in the round series. And then my sights are set on the rectangular plates!

The stamper did not pick up at first and so I had to prime it. This is fairly common with these sorts of stamper. I tried a swipe or three of acetone, but that didn’t help much. So then I used my crystal Leighton Denny nail file and rubbed it gently over the surface, then cleaned the residue off with acetone. It improved quite a bit, so I did this twice more, checking each time, and finally I was happy with how it picked up the image. Most people tell you not to regularly use acetone on a stamper, which is probably sensible, but I don’t see a problem with doing it once or twice. If you want to prime your stamper and you’re worried about using acetone, you can clean it off with a lint roller instead.

The stamper is really very nice indeed. Certainly for the price, which is currently $3.74, which works out to about £2.49. It’s a nice little stamper and picks the images up well. I didn’t use the scraper. I  have several metal scrapers and I don’t like them because they scratch the plates. This doesn’t seem to affect the image or how it picks up, but I’m a bit anal about keeping my plates looking nice, so I prefer to use an old credit card.
