Burgundy With Cream Roses | Theatre Inspired | 40 Great Nail Art Ideas

I wore this burgundy with cream roses manicure a few weeks ago. I posted it to my Instagram account, but didn’t get around to putting it on the blog.

The theme for this week’s 40 Great Nail Art Ideas group is “inspiration”. These nails were inspired by a trip I took to the Rose Playhouse to see a production of Othello. The Rose was built in 1587 and was the first purpose-built theatre to put on one of Shakespeare’s plays. The modern-day theatre is situated in the same place and the stage overlooks the excavated remains of the original theatre.

I’m a real fan of the place, not least because I’m a bit of a Shakespeare nut, but also because it’s such a weird but truly wonderful setting. The stage and auditorium is tiny – about the size of the average through-lounge in a 1930s semi. It probably seats about 60 at a push. What’s so engaging about the place though is that the stage overlooks the archaeological site, the rear of which is frequently used by production companies as an extension to the tiny stage.

The stamped roses are inspired by the Rose’s logo, which is a Tudor rose in a deep red and white. I used Ciaté Dangerous affair for the burgundy colour. It’s a lovely colour, but was a bit patchy after two coats, so I added a third. I stamped with Barry M Coconut, an off-white, slightly cream-coloured polish.

The stamping plate is Born Pretty Store BP-65. The roses are remarkably close in design to the Rose’s logo.
