GOT Polish Challenge: Ruffle: Holographic Ruffle

I’m grateful to the Golden Oldie Thursday (GOT) Polish Challenge today for making me attempt a technique I have never tried before: the ruffle manicure.

I used the four Color Club 2013 Halo Hues that I own: Over The Moon (blue), Beyond (black), Kismet (gold) and Eternal Beauty (purple).

I have mixed feelings about this technique. On the one hand, it’s not as uniform and precise as the perfectionist side of me would like. But on the other, it’s extremely quick and easy to achieve what is a pretty dramatic look.

These polishes in particular are nice and opaque, and also dry really quickly. So by the time I’d done a row of dots on all the fingers of one hand, it was dry enough to go in and do the next row of colour. So my nails were painted in no time at all.

I’m not very happy with the lack of uniformity – I think I got a bit slapdash towards the end – but I like the stripey effect you get from a distance.

This is great! I think the uniformity doesn’t really matter! The holo polishes work so well together too! 🙂

Amazing, it is hard to get a ruffle mani perfect, but you have done such a good job at making it look perfect, your nail designs are always so neat! All the colours flow so well together!
