Pastel Stripes (52 Week Challenge)

This week’s 52 Week Pick n Mix Challenge prompts are 3 pastels and negative space. I’ve been wearing a gel base coat for a while to prevent staining, but it hasn’t quite been long enough for all the staining to grow out. So negative space is a big no no for me. Accordingly, I chose 3 pastels and have created some pastel stripes on my nails.

The base is Barry M Coconut. I had meant to use Cotton, which is white, but the two polishes sit next to each other in my Helmer, and it just didn’t register – until I had already painted them – that I’d used the wrong one. However, I’m glad I did, because I think this has a nice, soft look, thanks to the creaminess of Coconut. I wonder now if white would have been too stark.

The pastel stripes colours are all Barry M too: the lilac is Fondant, the peach is Full Throttle and the blue is Sky Blue. I used my thinnest Nail Vinyls to create the stripes. Full Trottle, which is one of the new Speedy Quick Dry polishes, did in fact dry very quickly, meaning I had to work fast to ensure the nail vinyls would pull off cleanly. This is in contrast to my previous experience with Full Throttle, where I didn’t think it dried quickly at all. Hmmmm … confused now.

This mani is beautiful. I like how the colours complement each other.
