Essie Bottle Service with Neon Pink and Blue Chevron Decals (52 Week Challenge)

I’ve gone with the neon theme for this week’s 52 Week Pick n Mix Challenge, pairing Essie Bottle Service with neon pink and blue chevron decals.

I started by painting a white base on all my nails. I used Barry M Cotton, which has become my favourite white recently. Then I painted two coats of Essie Bottle Service over the top of my outer nails. White helps bring out the neon of the pink. And this pink is neon. My camera hated it, and I couldn’t even adjust the image after editing to give a truly colour-accurate likeness. So I gave up. Be assured though that it’s a bright highlighter pink. My photos show it a bit too washed out – it’s more intense and brighter then this.

As with all neons, Bottle Service dried matte, so I added top coat for shine.

For the accent nails, I added some neon pink and blue chevron decals from Born Pretty Store. I say accent nails, but I’ve taken to painting the two centre nails differently, as stand-out nails, but I nearly always do the same thing on my thumbs, so actually, 6 out of 10 of my nails – the majority – have the “accent”. It would be more accurate to call the plain nails the accents!

The water decals are from a large sheet of neon patterns. I bought these last summer, but never got around to using them, so this is the first time. But they will last ages because you get the equivalent of 11 small sheets of patterns. There aren’t enough of most patterns to be able to do all 10 nails, but you can mix and match the colours, staying within the same pattern family, or can use them for accent nails like I’ve done.

The two pinks don’t match each other, but under the light of my LED lamp, they both shine with equal intensity. Makes me want to go clubbing! (Maybe not! Too old for all that!)
