Rimmel Midnight Blue
I first spotted Rimmel Midnight Blue on the nails of an assistant in my opticians. I loved it and asked her what it was. I pride myself that I pretty much know all the mainstream brands you get in the UK, and I knew I hadn’t seen this one before. So I trotted off to Superdrug in search of it. But I couldn’t find it.
Not knowing if she was mistaken about its name, or if my Superdrug just didn’t have it in stock, I searched for it online when I got home. I quickly discovered that it’s an old (or a US) polish and could only find it for sale on eBay. I found it on sale for just a couple of pounds and ordered it at about 4 pm. It arrived the next day!
Rimmels usually chip very quickly on me, so I don’t buy them any more, but I am a sucker for a navy, and this one has a fine, lighter blue shimmer to it, so it’s different from others in my collection. You can’t really see the shimmer except for close up, or in the sunshine, but it gives the polish a near metallic quality and great shine.

I very much appreciated the whole background story about how you came to find and finally acquire this polish. 🙂 You’re lucky the woman wearing the polish in your optician’s office knew the brand and color name. I find when I ask someone wearing a polish I admire about those details, I almost always get a version of, “Oh, gee, let’s see…I’ve had this polish for a year or so. I think it starts with a [insert a letter of the alphabet here].” Me (thinking I can somehow jog her memory): “What starts with that letter? The polish brand? Or the name of the polish?” Woman wearing the coveted polish: “Name of the polish?” Sigh. I end up feeling slightly frustrated at being denied the knowledge necessary to attain my latest polish crush. Maybe there should be a worldwide law that people should always know their polish information? 🙂 Beautiful color and mani as usual…thanks!
