Neon Green & Blue Mermaid Nails | 40 Great Nail Art Ideas

I’m nearly a week late with posting these green and blue mermaid nails for the 40 Great Nail Art Ideas group.

Last Friday’s theme was neon, and my own personal prompt was mermaid or scales.

I traditionally think of neon colours as being the highlighter pen orange, pink and yellow. They’re bright and in your face and great for summer. You don’t see typical “mermaid” colours in neon.

But I do have the Essie 2015 neons, and two of them are mermaid kind of colours. They are a mid green/teal called Melody Maker and a bright blue called make Some Noise. They are called neons, but as they don’t glow under UV light, I don’t think of them as neon. But for the purposes of this challenge, well of course they are!

Onto a base of one coat Barry M Coconut, I used the “smoosh it using your stamper” technique to add on Melody Maker and Make Some Noise.

On top of that, I stamped a mermaid scales pattern with Moyra SP05 Blue and an image from Bundle Monster plate BM-502.

I was surprised to find that I don’t have many mermaid stamping patterns. In my collection of more than 400 plates, I had just three. One was too short for my nails, one was more waves than mermaid scales and this one.

The middle finger nail is a bit messed up. I managed to misplace the stamp on it, leaving a small bare patch and then for some reason my top coat really bubbled on that nail too.
