Orange and Red Gradient Leopard Nails | 40 Great Nail Art Ideas

Last Friday’s 40 Great Nail Art Ideas group theme was three shades of red/orange. My own personal prompt was leopard. The two worked OK together, so I was pleased, and the result is these orange and red gradient leopard nails.

The gradient is made from a pale orange (Revlon Sorbet), a mid orange (Barry M Block Orange) and a red (Barry M Blood Orange). The three colours combine for a really striking gradient. They’d be great as the base of a tropical silhouette manicure … you know, palm trees at sunset sort of thing.

To create the leopard spots, I used the end of the brush to roughly add some red over the light orange and vice versa. Then I used a dotting tool to add the black outlines.

I didn’t like it shiny, so added a matte top coat, which I much preferred.

This is the latest I’ve been with my 40 Great Nail Art Ideas manicure. I had a really busy Bank Holiday weekend watching my son play cricket each day. He played for his school, then for his club and then for Surrey District, completing wiping out all my weekend free time!

Matte Red Nails | Nella Milano Matt Top Coat

I have a review of Nella Milano Matt Top Coat, shown with some matte red nails.

I don’t know who Matt is, nor why he has a top coat. The usual spelling of the word is with an “e” … matte!

The top coat is nice and smooth and glides on well. It takes just a short time to superficially dry and show the matte effect, although it takes a bit longer to completely dry. There’s no claim that it’s a quick dry top coat though, so it is to be expected.

To show it off, I have used it with Nella Milano Scarlet Heat. I don’t often mattify my nails. I love the shine of nail polish and rarely consider how my nails might look with a matte top coat. However, I must make an effort to do it more often. There’s some added chic to matte nails, don’t you think?

On the Nella Milano website,  you can get 20% off all their polishes with the code Kerrspecial. All the polishes (except Chantilly Cream for some reason) seem to now be reduced to £6.99 as well, so you can get them for £5.59 each with the code.

For this manicure I’ve used:
  • Colour: two coats of Nella Milano Scarlet Heat
  • Top coat: Nella Milano Matt Top Coat
