Red Carpet Manicure: Bloom Style Collection
I have neglected my blog a little and haven’t been posting very much recently. I’ve still been photographing my nails though, so I’m playing catch up now and getting a few posts out.
This is the 2018 Spring Summer Bloom Style Collection from Red Carpet Manicure. It’s a collection of six gel polishes in a variety of classic spring and summer colours. I’m currently wearing the coral one and it’s perfect for the sunny weather. I think it’ll be a holiday staple of mine this summer.
The full collection is:
- Grace And Lace – a pink glitter
- Smell The Roses – pale pink with a hint of shimmer
- Floral In Coral – coral with a slight shimmer
- Best Buds – neon purple
- Vintage Mint – mint green
- A Hemline Above The Rest – cornflower blue
First up is Grace and Lace. This is a glitter polish that can be used on its own or as a topper. It has micro silver glitter and small holographic glitter in it.
I needed three coats on its own and even then it was a little sheer if I held my nails up to the light. Of course, that’s not a worry if you have short nails. It’s difficult to see the sparkliness of this, but it certainly twinkles. I also tried it over the pale pink in this collection and it looks great as a topper too.
Smell The Roses is a pale pink with blue and pink micro flakies that give it a very subtle shimmer. It’s a very pretty polish that also needed three coats for opacity. But again, if you have short nails or aren’t bothered by visible nail line, then you may only need two coats.
You can’t notice the flakies, or discern that they are blue and pink – unless you’re really scrutinising the nail up close. They show up in these photos, but in real life, the flakies just give it a shinier, more reflective appearance.
Floral In Coral is a classic coral, again with a hint of shimmer, this time in silver. This is two coats.
The photos don’t really do this colour justice. It’s more muted than these images show.
Best Buds is a purple. It’s a little different from the colour of the bottle. It’s a bit more blue toned than the bottle. It’s described as a neon, and it is under a UV lamp. But while it’s a lovely bright colour, it’s not an in-your-face sort of colour in daylight. This is two coats.
Again, I had trouble capturing the true colour of this. It’s not quite as light as the index and middle fingers show in the photo above – it’s much more like the colour on the other two nails, which are in shadow a little more.
Vintage Mint is a perfect pale green mint colour. I’m not much of a fan of green on my nails, but mint green is always the exception. This is three coats.
The website description says this is a neon colour. But it’s not at all. I think that’s just a typo.
Finally, the collection rounds out with A Hemline Above The Rest. This is pretty cornflower blue that I used three coats of. The RCM website describes it as periwinkle blue. I’ve just had to Google periwinkle. I knew it was a blue flower, but having checked, I’d say that periwinkle leans towards lavender a fair bit more than this does.
It’s such a pretty colour. I do love a blue nail polish!
