Bundle Monster Fundamentals Gel Polish and Travelling LED Flashlight Collection
If you haven’t used gel polish yet, but you’re curious, I have a fabulous and very inexpensive way for you to try it out. Bundle Monster has teamed three classic gel polish colours with a mini torch-based (flashlight for the North Americans!) LED curing light. And all for what I think is a great value price of just $22.99.
The set comes with three gel polishes, in red, black and white. They’re one-step gel polishes, so don’t need a base coat, nor a top coat, and nor do you need to wipe them after curing. You just paint two coats, curing each time, and then you’re done and ready to go, with no stickiness and no tacky layer to wipe off.
They are three classic colours that would be perfect as a starter set for someone just using gel polish for the first time. I’ve been away with work a lot recently, so am very short on time, so I just swatched these all together on one hand.
Rouge Lipstick is the red. It needed two coats as advertised and had brilliant application. It’s a great pillar box red that goes on well and cures well. I love it.
The white polish, Button Down, also took two coats and had great application too.
I had a small, very minor issue with the black polish, Cocktail Dress. It seemed to shrink away from the edges a little. I have experienced this before with gel polishes that aren’t well shaken. I had shaken this well, I thought, but it still didn’t leave the edges smooth. The second coat was much better – after some more shaking – but it still didn’t seem to be as perfect as the red or the white were. Having said that, it applied far better than my Gelish Black Shadow, which I find awful with shrinking, and it cured just fine, whereas my Gelish black is a pig to cure well.
The instructions say to cure each coat for 30-60 seconds and you get a handy LED torch that would be great for use when travelling. You don’t get batteries with the flashlight, so it just needs three AAA sized batteries.
Although these are hailed as one-step polishes, I was left with a very slight tacky layer at the end on each of them. Previously, when I have experienced this with other one-step gel polishes, I have just rubbed a little cuticle oil in and that has sorted it. I didn’t try that with the Bundle Monster polishes, but it may well work. Instead, I just wiped with alcohol and they were fine. I’m not sure why they weren’t left completely “dry”. I know the batteries that I used weren’t brand new, and they could have been very old, so perhaps that was the problem. I’ve certainly not read of anyone else having this issue.
All in all though, I am very impressed with this gel polish and portable flashlight set. I think it’s fabulous and great value at $22.99 (about £15 currently). That’s good value even for three gel polishes, let alone with a portable LED lamp included too! It’s a few dollars short of the free shipping threshold though, so if you’re going to order it, I’d add one of the Shangri-La plates while you’re there!
