It’s week 8 in the 52 Week Pick n Mix Challenge and the choices are brown and books.

I chose brown, and my attempts were fraught with initial annoyance. I painted a gradient a few days ago. But I didn’t like it. It looked OK on my nails from a distance, but the photos showed up that it wasn’t a particularly good gradient. I ditched that idea and decided on a water marble today – at about 7 pm.

It was awful. There were lots of air bubbles and I wasn’t keen on the pattern I’d created.

With little time left (I wanted to watch the X Factor results!), for my third attempt, I tried a water marble once more, and finally I was pleased with it. All the polishes are Barry Ms, and they worked really well. They are: Coconut, Almond, Cappucino and Cocoa.

I was so frustrated with redoing these nails by this stage that I just dipped these four nails together. It was quite a “phew” moment when I realised it had worked OK! I did manage to drag a nail through the middle finger nail though before I had top coated it, but I’m ignoring that!
