Beauty UK Smokey Lilac

Today’s manicure is Smokey Lilac from Beauty UK. The name’s really accurate. It’s not a girly, pinkish lilac at all. It definitely has a dusky smokiness to it.

Smokey Lilac comes from the Urban Girl collection, a set of six bottles that cost just £5. As with the other collection I have, these bottles aren’t labelled, but a bit of a search on the Beauty UK website helped in finding out what each polish is called.

Unlike Beauty UK’s Posh Puddle, this is quite a thick polish. It was also drying quickly and after massacring a couple of nails, I thinned it with a few drops of polish thinner and was much happier with the application after that. It did bubble quite a lot, but I’m pretty certain that was due to the shaking after adding the polish thinner. My No.7 Stay Perfect Top Coat seemed to sort out the bubbling nicely though. Two coats were just about enough, but as a couple of fingers have slight bald patches, I think three would have been better.

I love the colour, but don’t think it really suits my skin tone. Darker colours are better on me. The blue tone in the photo is a reflection of the sky – yes a bit of blue in the winter skies over London!
