Green Gradient with Stamping (52 Week Challenge)

I have had so much trouble with this week’s 52 Week Pick n Mix Challenge. The theme is either fire or 3 greens or yellows.

And the one that made it to posting – this manicure – is attempt number 5.

I started off by doing some green, three colour stamping over a blue. It looked a bit like parrot feathers and I quite liked it, but when I saw the photos I wasn’t happy as it was all a bit messy. So then I went down the fire route. I stamped some red, orange and yellow flames over a white base, but hated it and took it off again. Now, I don’t much like green, but I returned to that and tried some double processed stamping (look it up – it’s a new technique that has all the Facebook groups abuzz!). It worked brilliantly, but the colour scheme just didn’t suit the theme (green hearts anyone??). Next, and very late last night, I tried to do a yellow watermarble. I was tired and the polishes weren’t playing nicely, so that came off too.

Finally, this morning, I decided to do a two colour gradient with some stamping over the top.

At long last, I’d created a manicure I was proud enough of (despite the green) to put on the blog. The gradient is OPI Stranger Tides and Barry M Cardamom. And I stamped using Mundo De Uñas High Green and Born Pretty Store plate BP-20.

I am not a fan of green either but I really like this! I like it so much I’m going to pin it. Oh, dear, is that the height of compliments these days? “Oh, I love your outfit! Let me take a picture so I can pin you!” Urggghhh.

And, BTW, I love that you’ve added a second picture to your blog post format…you’re spoiling us. Oh, and a question: I’ve noticed your nails seem to be growing like crazy and they look super-strong. What nail strengthener treatment do you use? Or have you made another change that’s responsible for your delectable nails? Thanks!

Hi Delphi,

Yes, my nails are quite long at the moment. I’m nursing three splits/cracks, so I’ve been extra careful to not use them for anything as I don’t want them to snap off, so I think that accounts in the main for the growth.

I’ve also had a layer of clear gel polish on as a base coat, to add extra strength, and again to help preserve the nails and stop them breaking. But I’ve only done that for the last week, so that only accounts for about a millimetre of growth.

I did take about a mm off between my last post and these nails, but I still think they’re a bit too long, so there’s more to come off when I remove the gel, probably in the next few days.

And thanks for noticing about the extra photo – glad you like the change. 🙂

That gradient is so beautiful, and your stamping is perfect!
