It’s letter P this week in the A to Z series challenge. Going through my Ps to choose a polish, I settled on two untried Ciaté polishes. They were listed together in my spreadsheet and when I pulled them out, I thought they complemented each other well.

I wasn’t immediately sure how to use them though. Then, when I was checking my monthly stats, I saw that my stripey grey and peach nails post from May 2013 was the most viewed during July. It’s strange that this post is often quite highly viewed. I’m not sure why; it must have been shared somewhere for it still to be getting so many views.

Anyway, I decided to recreate it using Ciaté Pepperminty and Ciaté Pillow Talk.

The grey, Pillow Talk, has a touch of purple about it, but I think that’s toned down when it’s used alongside the mint. It also took three coats to be opaque. That wasn’t a problem on the solid coloured nail, but I’d done the base for the stripey nails in Pepperminty first. So I was worried that the grey wouldn’t cover so well. I tried a different tactic, therefore, and was pleased that it worked out. After applying the tape for the stripes, I painted one thin coat, and let it dry for about 20 seconds before applying another, thicker coat and then immediately removing the tape. This worked a treat and the grey was thick enough to not show any mint through it, and it had been completed quickly enough so that the tape could be removed without any smudging issues. Happy happy 🙂
