Week Of Love Valentine’s Nail Art Challenge: Roses

The theme for today in the Week of Love Valentine’s Nail Art Challenge is roses.

I have mastered what I call “easy” roses, the ones that are done with a dotting tool. So I wanted to try out something a little different. I thought about doing some one-stroke art, but swiftly put that idea back in the “too difficult” pile until I’m feeling braver.

Instead, I was inspired by a video where renowned nail artist Gemma Lambert freehands some roses. You can view the video a little further down.

I didn’t create exactly the same look; Gemma Lambert’s is done on an acrylic nail, with a red/black gradient French tip, whereas my design has a full nail gradient.

First off I created a red to black gradient using Barry M Blood Orange and W7 Black. Then I freehanded the roses using white acrylic paint. Pretty easy once you have something to copy!

Here’s my inspiration – skip forward to about 5:30 to see her do the roses:

WOW. I thought those were water decals or something. They look amazing – I can’t wait to try them! Thanks for linking the video tutorial, too. Great job.

Freehand?? Fab! They look amazing =)

I have a secret weapon for freehanding … a “dip pen” that works with acrylic paint! Far easier than a brush!
