GOT Polish Challenge: Stripes: Black, grey and white gradient stripes

It’s stripes today in the Golden Oldie Thursday (GOT) Polish Challenge.

There are prompts ahead in the challenge for a number of colours, so where I can, I want to try not to use those specified colours in the styles challenges. So I decided – at first – to go with a red, black and white striped manicure.

When I’d pulled out all my old polishes – and I’m attempting to used untried polishes, even though that isn’t really what the challenge is about – I found I had two complementary greys and a black, so I dumped the red and settled on a gradient striped look instead.

I started with a base of two coats of Sinful Colors Snow Me White, which is neither old nor untried! Then I used the medium sized straight Nail Vinyls to section the nails into three, before painting in Collection 2000 Angel Wings (lightest grey), Beauty UK Slate (darker grey), and MUA Shade 2, which is black.

To be sure it wouldn’t smear when I top-coated it, I left it to dry for a good hour.

I really enjoyed wearing this manicure. It’s very “me”.

Ooooh, that’s gorgeous! It’s so neat and simple.

Emily

I love it. It’s simple but absolutely stunning!!! I love the combo white / grey / black!

Romina

Lovely color combo! And the stripes are so clean and crisp…how do you achieve that with cream colors? I can usually pull it off with metallics but creams are so hard to deal with, the tape always lifts a little bit.

Claire Kerr

I use tapes from Nail Vinyls, which stick really well anyway, but I also rub them down a bit with a dotting tool or orange stick.

Aglaya

Love the look, very classy!
