FingerFood’s Theme Weeks: Shapes / Geometric: Colourful Circles

This week in the FingerFood’s Theme Weeks challenge we’re doing geometric nails.

I saw a fabulous picture on Pinterest of a funky coat (image further down), and that became my inspiration for this manicure.

After applying a base of two coats of Sinful Colors Snow Me White, I used hole reinforcer stickers so I could be sure (as much as my clumsy fingers would allow) to get the circles nice and uniform.

My colours are:

  • Red: Barry M Blood Orange
  • Purple: Barry M Bright Purple
  • Pink: Models Own Pink Blush
  • Blue: Barry M Blue Grape

I only did this manicure last night, so I didn’t have enough time – or patience – to paint circles over the entire nail, so I just did a line down the centre of each.

Wow, how did you do those perfect dots?

Claire Kerr

I used hole reinforcers!

Alison

I love this – both the coat and the mani!

Claire Kerr

The coat is fab. I don’t think I’d have the guts to wear it though!

sarah

they look amazing

Claire Kerr

Certainly eye catching 😉

Wow! I love that you used hole reinforcers – genius! Love this mani!

Jayna

This is great! The colours look so nice together and I love the simplicity of this design! 🙂

This is gorgeous Claire! I’ve always been annoyed at how complicated it was to get perfectly shaped large dots and you’ve solved my problem – yay!!!

Claire Kerr

It’s a good method, but does have a drawback if you’re going to put the circles close together … you have to wait for each one to fully dry so you don’t damage it with the next reinforcer.

The Sparkle Queen

Oh wow! Love the colors, the inspiration, AND how you did it! That’s very clever, with the reinforcement tabs. Very cool indeed, even if it takes some time to dry before you can move on to the next one.

emilly

Wow! I love it!! 😀 You do such beautiful nails!! 😀

TheBookishManicurist

I love how big the dots are, love the colour combo, too!

Dawn

Great mani I love the circles and colours used 🙂

I want to do this on my nails! Please do a tutorial for how you use hole stickies to make big circles? Pretty please with sugar on top?

Claire Kerr

I’d love to, but I doubt I will ever get the time. All you do is stick one on your nails, paint inside the hole, remove immediately, wait to dry, stick on another, paint, wait to dry, etc., etc., ad infinitum 🙂

Lisa

I love both the coat and the nails. One question, please? How long do you have to let each dot dry before sticking on the next piece?

Claire Kerr

I worked my way across one hand at a time before coming back to the first one to add the next circle. I was also reading blogs in between, so I wasn’t going really quickly. I don’t know for sure, but it was probably therefore about 10 minutes drying time for each one. All my polishes dried quickly anyway, but I just made sure that if I pressed quite hard on the circle with my finger, and it wouldn’t mark at all, then I knew it was dry enough.

These look gorgeous! I love the colors you used 🙂
