Green and blue outline nails

I was going to be conventional (read boring) and was trying to find a matching light blue to go with L’Oreal Sky Fits Heaven, which I was already wearing. I had an idea to do outline nails because I’ve not tried them before.

So I was looking through my swatch wheels trying to find a blue, when I spotted Ciate Mojito. It is a perfect match for Sky Fits Heaven in that they are both bright. So, I decided to be bold rather than boring.

At first I tried to do my nails by taping off the tip and then painting the green on as you would if you were doing a ruffian manicure. But it didn’t seem to work right. I couldn’t match the shape of the tip very well, and some polish also leaked under my tape. So I just freehanded it all using the polish brush and it was easier than I thought.

For this manicure I’ve used:
  • Outline colour: two coats of L’Oreal Color Riche Sky Fits Heaven
  • Intermediate top coat: Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Anti-Chip
  • Inner colour: two coats of Ciate Mojito
  • Final top coat: Seche Vite
